AMD drops in user prefference, while Windows 7 makes a comeback

It’s a slow time for AMD. The company struggled to reach a mindshare on the desktop and is looking to revive itself with a new push of its CPU-GPU chipsets. In the meantime, the ProLiant server line developed by HP seems to be gaining user preference.

The AMD A10-5700 and the AMD A10-5800K are new dual-core processors released by AMD. The 5700 is a lower-end processor for the 95W socket while the 5800K is a higher-end processor for the 115W socket. The 5700 has a base clock of 3.8GHz while the 5800K is clocked at 3.7GHz. The price difference between the two processors is only 50-60$. AMD is attempting to revitalize its processor market after a few disappointing months with the release of the Bulldozer processors.

  • The latest Steam poll from June 2021 had some rather unexpected results.
  • According to this information, Windows 7 is actually used for games by a large number of users.
  • Moreover, AMD has experienced a significant drop in user preference and has been surpassed by its rival Intel.
  • Nvidia is still the defending champion, undefeated and still the first choice of gamers.

If you’ve ever wondered what operating systems or hardware gamers are using today, we can help.

According to Steam’s latest research, there have apparently been some major changes, and these changes, however surprising, may affect one or two companies.

Windows 7 still seems to have a place in the hearts ofgamers.

So, based on the information provided by Steam in the June 2021 survey, we can conclude that some users are not yet ready to give up Windows 7.

While this may come as a shock to many, as Microsoft is about to launch Windows 11, there has been a resurgence of interest in this outdated operating system lately.

It is known that the 64-bit version of Windows 7 still accounts for 4.88% of Steam’s user base, after an increase of 2.91% in June 2021.

AMD loses its place in thegamer preference ranking

Another change that many did not expect was at one of the world’s largest manufacturers of gaming equipment.

Specifically, AMD lost its hard-won 30% market share to one of its biggest processor competitors, Intel, dropping to just 28.41%.

One can only speculate if AMD can regain its 30% in the near future and keep that number in the CPU market for more than a month.

However, AMD’s GPU performance is still far behind that of its main competitor, at 15% while NVIDIA achieves 76%.

However, this is not a strict indicator of the quality of both companies’ offerings, as AMD and NVIDIA make some of the best graphics cards, whether it’s the RTX 3060 Ti or the Radeon RX 6800.

Other interesting results from Steam’s accurate hardware survey for June include a mysterious spike in another area of the VR category.

This figure rose from just over 1% in May to 14.48% in June. At the same time, the Oculus Quest 2 was down 11.80%, indicating strange trends, strange tracking of statistics, or both in the VR industry.
